BAA was reported to be cutting 200 construction management and planning jobs at the end of the month, signalling a move away from construction management to design and build – and a desire to cut costs.

Some of the redundant workers could pick up jobs with one of the nine contractors just appointed to BAA’s complex projects framework, worth £9.5bn over the next 10 years. The nine are Balfour Beatty, Laing O’Rourke, Carillion, Skanska, Taylor Woodrow, Costain, Morgan Ashurst, Mace and BAA’s parent company Ferrovial.
