Hardware manufacturer, Avocet has gone fully operational with its huge Distribution Centre, following extensive live proving trials.

For statistic lovers the facility, built at Avocet's head office site at Brighouse, provides 87,000 sq ft of storage space, in which the narrow aisle high bay racking provides space for 8,000 pallets, which are reached by a fleet of the latest specialist high reach trucks and equipment.

Dedicated picking teams have been created for own branded products and DIY sector accounts, and a specialised team serving Avocet core customers. These operate on a three shift system running 24 hours a day, five days a week, ensuring maximum possible product stocking, and next day delivery for orders placed up to 5pm.

Avocet Managing Director Chris Morris is impressed with the performance of the Distribution Centre: ‘The structure was completed a year ago but we undertook not to go fully operational until we were confident that the facility was running to maximum efficiency'.
