Costs
The costs given below are a basic, rule-of-thumb guide to typical lift installation costs. The cost of individual lift systems vary widely depending on the quality of internal finishes required, the location of the project, the complexity of lift control required and the physical restrictions of the project. Typically for design purposes, one person equals about 75-80 kg of load.
Lift typeTypical costs
Passenger lifts: Non-scenic
A 21-person, 1600 kg traction lift travelling at 2.5 m/s with 8 to 12 stops£12,000-16,000 per stop
A 16-person, 1250 kg traction lift travelling at 2.5 m/s with 6 to 10 stops£11,000-15,000 per stop
A 12-person, 1000 kg traction lift travelling at 1.6 m/s with 6 to 10 stops£10,000-14,000 per stop
A 16-person, 1250 kg hydraulic lift travelling at 1.5 m/s with 2 to 5 stops£12,000-16,000 per stop
Passenger lifts: Scenic
Scenic lifts generally incur a 10-15% premium over standard lift costs
Goods lifts
A 2500 kg @ 1.0 m/s electric goods lift with 8 to 12 stops£14,000-17,000 per stop
A 2500 kg @ 0.63 m/s hydraulic goods lift with 3 to 6 stops£15,000-19,000 per stop
Escalators
A typical indoor, 35° inclined escalator with a 1000 mm wide tread£15,000-20,000 per linear metre of travel
