As was the case last year, the GM Fundraising Tower 2 Tower charity cycle ride finished as it started, in glorious sunshine on Saturday 16 September. After seven days and almost 500 miles, the Mila Hardware-sponsored event came to a conclusion under Blackpool Tower.

Commenting on the success of the ride, GM Fundraising founder, Gary Morton said, ‘Support from Mila Hardware means that every penny of sponsorship will go to the children at Hope House Children’s Hospice. The generosity of the glass and glazing industry has, once again been fantastic. With some sponsorship still due, we look certain to have raised around £36,000 for the kids.’

Making the tremendous achievement of cycling from the Eiffel Tower, Paris, to Blackpool Tower, the participating riders were: Richard Gyde (Mila Hardware), Alan Rothwell (Patterson & Rothwell), Dave Watts (Eurocell), Jeff Walsh (Pearl Windows), Andrew Lamsdale (LA Rollform), Terry Cottam (Central/CRC), Graeme Bailey, Adrian Girling, Keith Aspinall (All of Business Micros) and Gary Morton (PVC Group). Other riders included Gary Torr (Shepley), who cycled from Paris to Swindon and Iain McInnes (McInnes Communications). The team were supported throughout by Alan McDougall, Alan Tupman (Graphisign) and Dave Broxton (Glassex/GP&T).
