Engineering consultancy Arup is inviting entries to ‘drawing water challenge’, an ideas competition to find possible solutions to tackle the growing problem of worldwide water shortages.

Entrants are asked to devise a product or new concept that can bring clean, safe water to people all over the world.

There are cash prizes (first price is £3,000) for the first three winning designs. There is also a well respected panel of judges from the design community including the Royal College of Art's Sir Christopher Frayling, Ken Shuttleworth of Make and Marcus Fairs of Icon as well as a team assigned by WaterAid and Arup.

The Arup Cause is a scheme to celebrate the firm’s 60th anniversary and its partnership with WaterAid. The firm hopes to attract the attention of talented and creative individuals from around the world.
