Urban regenerator Artisan has won two prizes at this year's Manchester Built In Quality awards.

Albion Mill and Ovale, both part of Artisan's residential led mixed use Upper Eastside Valley scheme, received awards for outstanding construction.

Ovale is Manchester's first elliptical building comprising 36 apartments and 743.2 sq m of commercial space. The £6.5m scheme was completed in January 2006.

Albion Mill, worth £8m and finished in summer of 2005, is a refurbished grade II listed factory, which created 72 new homes and 2,016 sq m of commercial space.

For both projects the QS was Projex North West, the project manager was Artisan Construction Group and the architect was Arconia.

The 12 award winners were chosen from more than 2,650 buildings inspected by the City Council's Building Control over the last year.

The Upper Eastside Valley is part of the new east Manchester regeneration zone and gateway into the city centre. It has been designed to enhance the existing buildings whilst constructing complementary building forms to create a visual contrast of past and present.

Artisan's current projects include Manchester's first New Media Village, the third and final phase of Express Networks and Lower Eastside Valley.
