Cumbria-based guarding contractor Northern Security has appointed Chris McCormick as business development manager. 40-year-old McCormick brings more than a decade of experience as a senior negotiator in the guarding sector to the role, having previously worked in the same capacity at Chubb Security Personnel and Securitas (UK).

Extreme CCTV – a leader in the field of designing, developing and manufacturing active infrared night vision surveillance solutions – has appointed Peter Beare to the position of managing director for its European operations. Beare is well known for having played a key role as managing director at Baxall, while in the US he has served as chief executive for blue chips B&B, ARMR and Ultrak.

Johnson Controls has appointed Helena Ohlsson – EuroFM Board member and former president of the Swedish International Facilities Management Association (IFMA) Chapter – as principal consultant with responsibility for driving the growth and expansion of the company across Europe. Helena – a graduate of the Diploma programme in Facilities Management at Chalmers University, Gothenburg – will help clients to develop facilities and security services that “increase performance and serve to greatly enhance efficiencies”.

Canadian manufacturer Verex Technology – a UTC Fire and Security Company – has appointed Peter Crussell to develop sales of the company’s Monitor XL integrated security management system across the UK and Europe. Peter previously worked for Cotag (where he was responsible for developing sales of the Granta system throughout Europe).

Leading CCTV solutions developer Merit LiLin (UK) has announced the promotion of Kelly Ford to business development executive at the same time as Tim Stone takes on the role of southern area internal account support manager. In her new role, Kelly will be responsible for customer account management and new sales development. The appointment of Tim Stone will afford the company’s southern regional customers additional support and further enhance client-facing service.

Aigis Blast Protection – the explosion protection specialist serving the security and defence sectors that was ranked the fourth fastest-growing UK company in 2006 by The Daily Telegraph – has appointed Marc Ottolini MSc MBA as its chief executive. Ottolini spent 14 years at Philips Electronics and, latterly, five years as European managing director for Dialight.

Network Box has appointed Simon Heron – the managed security specialist’s former technical director – as managing director of the company’s UK operations. Heron takes over the role from Michael Fenton, who has moved on to become executive director on the Board of Network Box’s parent company. Heron has been at the company since 2003, overseeing the inception and running of its operational base in Nottingham.

ArmorGroup International has announced the appointment of Andrew Martin as group director of marketing. Andrew joined the company on 1 February, reporting directly to the Group’s chief operating officer Noel Philp. 49-year-old Martin joins from Prismo, Jarvis plc’s roads division for which (as managing director) he led a successful recovery programme and co-ordinated its sale to Ennis Paint.

Chris Connor is the new national sales manager at innovative digital CCTV security solutions provider Video Domain Technologies. Chris will be responsible for developing relationships with new and existing distributors, as well as devising channel marketing strategies.

Networking and security solutions distributor Mayflex has appointed Simon Carroll as field sales engineer for the south of England. Simon’s focus will be on the company’s entire product range, including digital surveillance cameras, DVRs, IP video servers, video transmission devices and access control solutions.

Having managed the Shropshire-based safe manufacturer’s finances for nine years, David Jones has been appointed financial director at SMP Security. Paul Adams – who has worked in the Sales Department for the past 12 years – is appointed sales director. SMP is now the leading UK safe manufacturer, with its Concept 2 range of EN 14450-compliant safes set to debut at IFSEC in May.

Former time and attendance products manager at Stanley Security Solutions, Steve Coetzer (pictured) has been promoted to national accounts director. Steve’s old role has been taken up by John Allison (who boasts 20 years’ experience in the time and attendance market). John has spent the past three years in a product development role working on the company’s web-based BESTime solutions.

Network security organisation Lightspeed Systems Europe has appointed Roland Malcolm as sales director to develop new partnerships and raise awareness within Europe of the company’s integrated security solutions.
