Boardroom changes at Cumbria-based guarding contractor Northern Security have seen the arrival of two directors.


Taking the role of sales director is Peter Smith, who joined the company back in 2002 as business development manager.


The new operations director is Paul Heeran, a former area manager at BT.


Michael Sayers has joined the security consultancy division of TPS. Based at Strathclyde Business Park near Glasgow, Michael is now entrusted with expanding TPS’ consultancy services throughout Scotland and Northern England. Michael has been a presence in the security sector for 25 years, having worked in engineering, sales and commercial management.

The British Security Industry Association has appointed new technical and public relations officers.




David Wilkinson joins the Association as technical officer. Formerly the quality manager at Kings Security, David began his career in the security sector back in 1987 as an electronics engineer. In addition,




Kim Carmichael takes on the role of public relations officer. As a recent graduate of the University of Stirling, Kim will support Kay Wright and Kiri Gray in the Media and PR Department.




Visimetrics – the digital CCTV and video surveillance specialist – continues to grow its sales team with the appointment of John Gregory as business development manager. Focusing predominantly on a sales specification role, John will be working alongside consultants, specifiers and major end users to build on the successes achieved by the company since the launches of the Fastar and Vader DVRs.



Group 4 technology hired David Hodgkiss to be the new regional sales manager for the company’s Electronic Security Systems Group. Operating across the West Midlands and the North West, David will be responsible for generating new business and managing existing accounts.


Patrik von Sydow has taken on the role of market region manager in the UK at Assa Abloy. He replaces Tzachi Wiesenfeld, who has recently been promoted to head of EMEA operations and executive vice-president of the Assa Abloy Group. 44-year-old von Sydow brings a wealth of experience with him, having served as division general manager of Electrolux in Sweden and as factory manager at the Isuzu/GM car assembly plant based in the UK. Most recently, von Sydow was the managing director at Sealine International.




Leading asset protection specialist Reflex has announced the appointment of Steve Reece as service sales executive, with direct responsibility for the North of England. Steve will be generating new service and maintenance business covering all elements of the Reflex portfolio.




Nortech Control Systems has appointed a new sales account manager in the shape of Grant Swenson. Grant boasts over 15 years’ experience of the telecommunications industry, having handled key account business at Draka, Alcatel and Pirelli in times past. He’ll now be responsible for managing all existing key accounts.


Scott Jones has been appointed head of sales and marketing for leading North West security systems specialist Delta Fire and Security Protection. 34-year-old Jones has spent the past 18 years in the electronic security industry, joining from Dedicated Micros. He is tasked with building a new Sales Team and helping to grow revenues by 40% during the coming year.

FOR-A – a leading manufacturer of video and audio systems for the broadcast, post-production and security markets has appointed David Ackroyd as European sales manager. David will work with a network of resellers to develop sales opportunities in Scandinavia and Eastern and Central Europe. Ackroyd joins from camera support equipment manufacturer Vinten, where he served as sales director for robotics and virtual studios.

Allen-Vanguard has strengthened its team with the appointment of Derrick Darlow as product development manager. Derrick’s new role involves managing and supporting the solutions side of the business – designed to mitigate the effects of terrorism by combating chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosives threats – and helping to build competencies. Previously with Halliburton, Darlow will report directly to managing director Roy Peers-Smith.

Roy Wise have graduated from Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College with foundation degrees in crowd management (the highest qualification available in the UK for crowd management professionals). Mark runs the company’s northern region. Roy manages Showsec’s Training Department which, in the past year, has accredited 327 staff with SIA licences and qualified 1,237 staff at NCFE Level 2.
