MITIE Group has announced that Bruce Hiscock is the new managing director of MITIE Security Systems, the electronics division of MITIE Security. Bruce joins from electronic security solutions provider Protec.

Maurice Parsons has retired from the post of secretary of the Association of Security Consultants, having spent eight years in the role. He served in the Metropolitan Police for 34 years prior to retiring in September 1994, when he formed the Buckingham Consultancy with Laurie Doust. Doust – an ASC Council member and vice-chairman between 2002 and 2004 – now succeeds Maurice as ASC secretary prior to Consec 2006 (see p12).

Malcolm Page – head of global business development, Government and defence at BT Global Services – has been elected vice-chairman of the Managed Services Providers Information Exchange (MSPIE) for 2006-2007, and chair elect for 2007-2008. The MSPIE comprises commercial organisations that supply IT and professional security services to the UK’s critical national infrastructure clients throughout the public and private sectors.

TPS Consult has appointed Martin Segal to the position of principal security advisor. Martin – a member of the Institute of Security Management – joins the company having worked for Lodge Service (UK) as the retail sector guarding specialist’s business development manager.

Tina Nuttall has joined guarding company the AFC Group as regional manager for key client accounts in the south of England. Tina spent nine years at Securiplan plc, where she began her career in the Human Resources Department. She went on to become southern regional manager before leaving for Initial Security and a role as branch manager.

ArmourGroup International has appointed Andrew Fulton as corporate strategy advisor with a mandate to focus on developing new business opportunities in the security consulting marketplace. Andrew is a former senior diplomat who served in Saigon, Rome, East Berlin, Oslo and New York between 1968 and 1999 on behalf of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

Adam Wiseberg – main Board director at CCTV specialist AD Group and current chairman of the BSIA – has been appointed to the Board of Skills for Security, the training and standards-setting body for the security industry. Adam assumes the role of non-executive director.

Visimetrics’ new business development manager is Ian Littell. With a background in large-scale systems integration work for several market leaders, Ian brings over 20 years’ industry experience (and a wealth of CCTV specification knowledge) to this newly-created position. He is now in the process of developing the company’s relationships with major end users and consultants in the specification sales area.

Dedicated Micros has appointed Dr Mark Wherrett as product manager for camera heads with specific responsibility for the company’s Dennard range of dome cameras, CCTV hardware products and ancillaries. Wherrett boasts over 18 years’ experience in the CCTV sector, latterly as general manager of the video products division at Bewator.

Bosch Security Systems’ sales executive responsible for intruder security systems is Mick Gates. The new role has been established to give added focus and direction to the intruder element of Bosch’s systems offering, and Mick will take charge of supporting the company’s sales drive in this vital area. During the past three years Mick served as an account manager for the South East region with Cooper Security.

Checkpoint Systems – a pioneer when it comes to shrinkage management solutions for security professionals in the retail sector – has strengthened its sales team with two appointments. Michael Woods joins in the newly-created role of UK national sales manager, while Ceri Hughes will handle the company’s DIY business in the post of national account manager. Woods joins Checkpoint from Torex Retail.

Access control solutions specialist Bewator has just appointed Bruce Torrance as its area sales manager for the north of England. He will manage sales of the company’s entire product range in the region – from standard analogue CCTV solutions through to matrices boasting networking capability.

Remote Video Response – the Gloucester-based remote monitoring business – has appointed Andy Barnfield as customer services manager. Andy has spent many years in the customer services arena, including a stint at Capita Resourcing where he acted as Call Centre manager in charge of a 33-strong team of recruitment advisors. He will play a key role in supporting the company’s new sales drive.
