New dispute firm
Jon Mizrahi has quit his job as a senior consultant at JR Knowles to start up his own business in Manchester. The new company, Building Dispute Advice Services, will offer strategic and specific adjudication advice and representation, claims preparation and negotiation, contract advice and drafting. Mizrahi said he will offer the service to a full range of clients in the North East and fees would start at £60 per hour.
The fledgling firm is already working with clients ranging from small specialist subcontractors to international firms.
While the business is currently a one-man operation, Mizrahi is currently recruiting two graduates.
Concept takes on VW man
Project management firm Concept has appointed Alan MacDonald to project manage a string of new showrooms across the UK for Volkswagen.
He joins from Robert Stephens and Company, where he was a project manager. Previously he worked for Abacus Project Services in London, Bovis Lend Lease in Harrow, Middlesex and Harkess-Ord in London, where he was principal construction manager.
He will be based at the company’s Birmingham office. MacDonald, 37, has been involved with the VW group since 1998 and is a QS by profession.
His previous projects include historic conservation works, petrochemical civil engineering projects and new build housing association schemes.
Doctor joins CMPB
CM Parker Browne has hired Dr Kamarul Salleh as senior to QS to head up the Manchester office.
Salleh, who previously worked for EC Harris, Mott MacDonald and Balfour Beatty, will work on two City Academy schemes in Sheffield. He has around 15 years’ experience in the sector and specialises in education, PFI and regeneration.
EC Harris boosts public team
EC Harris has added Colin Mason to its public team as a senior consultant. He joins from Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council and will focus on local government, affordable housing and education work. His experience at Bolton includes heading the property asset management team for the council’s corporate property service. Mason, who is a chartered building surveyor by profession, will work from the company’s Liverpool office.
Lowndes joins Poole Dick
QS and PM firm Poole Dick Associates has appointed Steve Lowndes as full director. He will continue to work from the company’s Stoke-on-Trent office.
