Best bit?
Taking on the role when there’s a real buzz in Lambeth. We’re beginning to deliver on an agenda of improvement and change.
Any advice for someone wanting to work in housing?
You need to have the belief to deliver public services – and I think those who come into housing from other sectors have to be aware of how valuable their transferable skills are.
What would you do if you were housing minister?
Work to make sure that everyone has access to safe, good-quality housing. Look outside the sector to see if there are other innovative ways to deal with supply and demand.
Biggest challenge?
Making tough decisions that you know will have an impact on people’s lives, their access to housing – even their jobs.
