Job of the week
Adrian Redmond
Old job
Regional development manager, Servite Houses, London
New job
Director of development at Minster General Housing Association, Cambridgeshire
How’s it going so far?
It’s the biggest challenge I’ve faced in my career so far, having moved from a housing association with an established programme to one which is just restarting a programme. Keeping development going was hard enough – starting it up again will be even harder.
Best thing about the job
We have a good reputation and an excellent commitment to customer services. There is significant scope for growth in the areas where we operate and these can all be brought together to take the association forward.
Advice for people who want to get into housing
Think carefully.
What would you do if you were housing minister?
I’d look to get more effective affordable housing through planning gain and other models.
Favourite book
I’ve just read Stupid White Men by Michael Moore, which is quite funny, very wittily observed.
Favourite film
A Matter of Life and Death – it’s a World War II film with David Niven and Kim Hunter.
Hobbies
I’ve got two small children so I don’t have time for hobbies – I spend my spare time clearing up after them and doing the odd bit of DIY.
Housing situation
I own a four-bed terraced house in a market town.
