How’s your new job?
“Very time-consuming. So far I have familiarised myself with the schemes providing accommodation and support to older people, met with key people in the organisation and started to work on moving the service forward. “It’s been hard finding time to do everything. But I love what I do and what I’m going to do.”
If someone wanted your job, how would they get it?
“If people want to work in supported housing, they need housing and social work training or qualifications – but they also need to have a good knowledge of the policies that have an impact on the group with whom they work and how the group is disadvantaged through social policy and discrimination.”
Tell us something we don’t know?
“I’ve been a barmaid, landlady, chambermaid, waitress, shop assistant, and a sheep-shearer – so I have transferable skills in abundance!”
Favourite film
“The Shawshank Redemption.”
Housing situation
“I am renting a two-bedroom flat while I wait to see what the market does – I’ve given myself a year to find a home to buy.”
