Dennis Lenard has been named as the new chief executive of Constructing Excellence by the Minister for Construction, Nigel Griffiths. An Australian executive with high-profile experience in both industry and academia, Lenard was the founding director of the Centre for Construction Innovation in Manchester.

Terry Hodgkinson FCIOB will succeed Sir Graham Hall as the new chairman of Yorkshire Forward from December 2003. The managing director of Magna Holdings and a director of Lemmeleg Building and Contracting, Hodgkinson is nationally involved with Rethinking Construction.

Former Manchester City architect Bob King is assisting the government in its anti-cowboy Quality Mark scheme through the North West.

Morgan Lovell has appointed the company's finance director Andrew Bradley (pictured) to managing director. He will have overall responsibility for the management and growth of the firm's London operations.

The Leeds-based Jack Lunn group has promoted Richard Bryan and Dean Smith to directors of its construction business.

Regional construction company Bluestone has appointed Robert Whitham as southern business development manager. The company has also named Dawn Owst as health and safety advisor.

Michael Stallard is to join The Tamdown Group as health and safety manager. He will be responsible for health and safety across the group, which includes Tamdown Civil Engineering, Tamdown Regeneration and Kings Weston.

Construction consultant PCM has appointed Martyn Gannicott as commercial director. Based in Birmingham, he will oversee and co-ordinate commercial, contractual and financial aspects of the company.

The Briggs and Forester Group has promoted its contracts manager Trevor Birch to director in charge of the special projects division.

RMC Concrete Floors works supervisor Susan Fay has been been transferred from Bristol to the Rochester office to head up the company's new production facility. Fay will supervise a team of eight men at the facility, which is now at full capacity.

Parting company Robert Hawley has retired as chairman of Taylor Woodrow. Deputy chairman Norman Broadhurst is taking over the role temporarily.

Derek Sack has quit as a non-executive director of housebuilder Berkeley.
