Mike Newton, CEO of Warrington-based AD Group and founder of Dedicated Micros, has come out on top in EN magazine’s Entrepreneur awards, winning the most prestigious category – ‘North West Entrepreneur of the Year 2005’.
Scott McCubbin, editor of EN magazine, said: “Mike has an outstanding track record as an entrepreneur, whether it be bringing the world’s first CCTV multiplexer to market 20 years ago – recognised as a major landmark in the expansion of CCTV – to more recently where he has been the driving force behind the prodigious growth of AD Group.
“AD’s turnover has soared from £930,000 in 1998 to £93m in 2004, and Mike’s philosophy of constant innovation, keeping one step ahead of the competition, really shone through when it came to having to decide on the eventual winner.”
Newton said he was delighted to have won the award, “particularly as the nominations came from the readers, who are also entrepreneurs in their own right. It also reflects the strength of the team and processes that we now have at AD Group – especially in R&D – which allows the business to thrive and means that we are in a position to offer genuinely innovative CCTV solutions on the ground, in the air and on the move.”
The EN accolade follows Newton’s ranking by Management Today magazine as number one amongst the top 100 entrepreneurs in the UK.
