Cablofil’s flexible mesh structure has been installed in ceiling voids throughout the Beatson treatment centre.

Amec has completed its work on the cable management system for Glasgow’s new £87 million state of the art cancer treatment centre.

The m&e provider installed 20 km of Cablofil’s CF 54 steel wire tray throughout the Beatson, West of Scotland Cancer Centre, utilising the full range in a variety of widths ranging from 50 mm to 600 mm wide, along with a selection of fast fix couplers. The tray was chosen to meet the centre’s extensive cable management requirements for power, data, fire alarm systems, communications cables and to service the centre’s new radiation therapy suites.

Cablofil proved quick and easy to install and offered a high strength to weight ratio. It can be moulded, shaped and cut to size on site, and requires no extra strips or connectors. The wire mesh tray system provides easy access for repair work.

The site is due to open in 2007, and will replace oncology units at three Glasgow hospitals. It includes some of the world’s most advanced cancer care equipment and will serve 2.6 million patients.
