Labour MP for Crosby and chartered surveyor, Claire Curtis-Thomas, is chair of the new All Party Building Services Engineering Group.

The remit of the group is wide-ranging, taking in diverse areas including rogue trainers, the Building Regulations and challenges posed by the 2012 Olympics.

Core objectives of the group include:

  • providing a forum to raise awareness of principal issues with regard to operation, training, diversity and public knowledge;
  • encouraging a cohesive political approach to the sector;
  • informing decision makers and assisting policy formulation;
  • highlighting the contribution that can be made to sustainability and energy efficiency by the building services profession.
In addition to Curtis-Thomas, the officers of the group are John Spellar MP (Lab), Peter Bottomley MP (Con), Richard Younger-Ross (Lib Dem) and Sarah McCarthy-Fry (Lab).
