ADT has exceeded 1000 active customers at its Remote Video Response Centre in Manchester.

The RVRC, which opened in September 2004, is a state of the art facility offering customers a remote security monitoring and response service. In 2005, the facility was accredited with BS8418. Its customer base covers a wide range of properties, including celebrity homes, businesses, schools and animal sanctuaries.

Tony Farrell, general manager of ADT's communications division, said: "We believe that we are the first company in the UK to have achieved this milestone, and it is testament to the great work of the RVRC team.

"The growth in our customer base shows the value that our customers place on having ADT manage their security systems and it also demonstrates the benefits of monitoring by our professionally trained RVRC analysts."

The council, based in the south of Glasgow, is using a GGP Geographical Information System within its CCTV control centre.

Operators monitor live incidents and provide emergency services at the scene with additional intelligence.

GGP's GIS is also used to evaluate and analyse incidents of crime or anti-social behaviour to improve future performance, prevention and detection.
