Our senior management team and board members would like to congratulate Sunderland Housing for expecting to become the first RSL to achieve 100% decent homes standard by Christmas (30 July, page 13 and Letters, 6 August, page 21).

We would also like to welcome them to the club. Tower Hamlets Community Housing was formed in March 2000 via a stock transfer from the local authority and although, having only 2000 properties, we can’t claim to be on the same scale as Sunderland’s 36,000, we can claim to have achieved 100% decent homes first: in 2003, seven years before the deadline, having invested £46m in our refurbishment scheme three years ahead of programme and within budget.
