A report says that Honeywell is the market leader in the Europe, Middle East and Africa sector for fire detection products. The IMS Research Report, 'The EMEA Market for Fire detection and Suppression Products', says that "Honeywell emerged as the dominant supplier with an estimated market share of 18.9 per cent, ahead of its nearest competitor Siemens (13.2 per cent).
"Honeywell's success has been achieved by its acquisition of some of the industry's powerhouse brands and it is now the market leader in almost all of the fire detection product markets," analyst James McManus said. "The combined strength of its Notifier, esser, Silent Knight, Fire-Lite, Gent, Morely IAS, System Sensor and KAC subsidiaries has made Honeywell a ubiquitous force within the fire detection market."
IMS Research predicts the EMEA market for fire detection products will reach £663m in 2010, with a forecast compound annual growth rate of 3.8 per cent.
A report on Real Time Locating Systems says the number of companies offering the systems has tripled in the last year, and the market is expected to become a £1.55 billion industry by 2016.
"RTLS are electronic systems that are intended to locate small electronic devices on people or things at any time," the report from IDTechEx says. It predicts the RTLS segment will become 40 per cent of the active RFID market in ten years.
"The number of companies supplying all or part of the RTLS value chain is growing rapidly, from about 50 companies in 2006 to about 200 in 2016", it says.
