Manned guarding contractor OCS Security Services is sponsoring a squad of eight police cycles that will make life easier for officers working out of the Snow Hill Station in the City.
The bikes will enable local police to provide a highly visible patrol that's able to respond far more swiftly to calls than would an ordinary team of beat officers. They have been modified for their purpose thanks to the addition of flashing blue lamps, two-tone sirens and police markings. They also benefit from 27-speed gears, full suspension and front and rear disk brakes as standard.
Speaking about the initiative, OCS Security Services' md Richard Fenton-Jones (pictured, right, with PC Dave Wilkinson and chief superintendent Kieron Sharp), told Security Management Today: "We're keen to become involved with projects that help to prevent and reduce crime. The City of London Police should benefit greatly from the new cycle squad, allowing officers to beat the heavy traffic in the Capital and catch more offenders."
