Strathclyde Insulating Glass Ltd has achieved Part 3 accreditation under the new EN1279 regulations, and announces that it is the first Scottish manufacturer to do so.
Phil Turley, Glass Products Manager at Kommerling, says: ‘We have worked with Strathclyde for over 10 years and are delighted that the quality of our sealants has been instrumental in helping the company achieve this high level of recognition. As the call for gas filling increases in line with the new legislation our sealants will be key in ensuring that IG units have a lower centre pane value’.
David Blore, Managing Director of Strathclyde Insulating, explains: ‘Since we founded the business 30 years ago the quality of our products has been our strength. We believe this third party accreditation will give both existing and potential customers extra peace of mind and the confidence to include our units across the full range of commercial and residential buildings.’
In addition to ensuring the quality of the sealant, Strathclyde has made considerable investment at its plant in Hamilton. The company has installed a gas press on its automated manufacturing line.
Family run Strathclyde Insulating Glass Ltd was founded in 1975 and produced its first double glazed units in 1980. It achieved BSI accreditation in 1993 and its IG units have been used in a number of well known UK buildings. Kommerling (formerly Stag Limited) is a subsidiary of ADCO Europe Holdings (whose ultimate parent is ADCO Global Inc.). This ISO 9001 accredited company is a long standing member of the British Adhesive & Sealants Association (BASA).
