Duemas Technology Ltd has developed a Diamond Bead Applicator for applying one and two part polyurethane adhesives. This works by placing a 300mm wide head at right angles to the product and traversing this across its width. The traversing head is then either mounted on a moving carriage which travels along the product; or the product can be conveyed underneath. Either way, the method creates a lattice of diamonds.

The use of the 'non –stick' PTFE head makes cleaning after use simple. When the adhesive is fully cured it can be peeled off in seconds. The traversing head is driven via a servo motor which accurately and smoothly dispenses the glue across infinite width variations all of which are achieved by simple touch screen control.

The first of these machines has already been installed in one of the UK's leading door panel companies. The start up time each day has been reduced from 1 hour to just 10 minutes, says the company.
