10:50AM Camden Council confirms Kings Cross scheme will proceed

One of the largest regeneration schemes in the UK - the redevelopment of Kings Cross - has got the go-ahead. Camden Council has granted full planning permissions and consents for the 65-acre site being developed by Argent.

Plans include building 1,700 homes plus community, sports and education facilities. A significant 40% of the homes will be affordable. The design will also regenerate part of Regents Canal with three new bridges crossing the site. Buildings range in height from one to 19 storeys.

Although the council originally resolved on 9 March to grant permission and agreed the key points of the 106 Agreement, members asked to see the full details of the agreement before the final permissions were issued.

The architects are Allies & Morrison and Demitri Porphyrios. The scheme is expected to take around 15 years to complete.
