Ascot has drafted in a 1,000-strong force in a last ditch effort to finish its revamp in time for the royal race meeting in May
The 1,000 staff have been working on the £200m scheme since Christmas and will remain there close to the planned opening day of 27 May.
They are sub-contractors working for main contractors Laing O'Rourke and ISG InteriorExterior under project director Alan Erricker. Gardiner & Theobald is the QS.
The sub-contractors range from installers of catering plant, escalators and electrical termination points, to carpet layers and painters.
Nick Smith, Ascot's head of public relations, said the focus of the project was now on "ensuring actual work time and quality of work dovetails with meticulous planning and scheduling".
"Any delays in any areas have knock-on effects so have to be minimised and contingencies need to be in place for when minor setbacks do occur, as is inevitable."
The cost of the project went up by £15m to £200m after extra works were added to it, including the construction of a second underpass.
Erricker was hired in October after project manger David Trench quit the scheme, citing differences with the client. Trench founded project management specialist Trench Farrow.
