Fitters may no longer have to hand back deposits to customers unable to meet the current tariff deadline
The government may phase in the cut to solar power feed-in tariffs after angry public reaction to the sudden timing of the proposed cut, the Daily Telegraph reports.
The government proposes to halve the rate home owners get paid for their surplus solar electricity from 43p per kWh to 21p per kWh from 12 December.
Many solar panel fitters have said it will put them out of business and are bracing themselves to have to hand back deposits paid by customers whose panels will not be set-up in time to meet the 12 December deadline.
The Telegraph reports energy minister Greg Barker is considering phasing in the changes to stop this happening.
