Firm to provide pre-construction work on one of a cluster of office buildings for British Land
Contractor Wates has been appointed to work on a key part of British Land’s £180m development at Kingdom Street in Paddington.
Wates has been appointed to do pre-construction work on 4 Kingdom Street, which is part of the £180m development of 4 and 5 Kingdom Street.
According to construction analyst Barbour ABI, 4 Kingdom Street, which is designed by architect Allies and Morrison, is worth £80m.
Work on the scheme is not due to start on site until the end of 2015.
The office building is part of a wider development next to Paddington station being undertaken by British Land that has a total budget of £470m.
In a joint statement British Land and Wates said: “Following the conclusion of the first stage of a two-stage tender process, Wates has been appointed under a preconstruction services agreement to work up a fixed-price lump-sum offer pursuant to entering into contract for the construction of 4 Kingdom Street.”
