Exclusive: Three firms have been shortlisted for a £93m batch of privately-financed schools in the North west
Building understands that Morgan Sindall, Laing O’Rourke and Vinci Construction have been shortlisted for the £93m batch of schools in the North-west.
The batch, which comprises 12 schools, is the third batch of privately-financed schools to come to market.
In September, Building revealed that Laing O’Rourke, Miller Construction and Sir Robert McAlpine had been shortlisted for the £120m batch of schools in the North-east, which was the second batch of private finance schools to come to market through the PSBP.
While in August, Wates, Morgan Sindall and Interserve were shortlisted for the first batch of Pf2 schools, a £150m batch in the Hertfordshire, Luton and Reading area.
The remaining two Pf2 batches in the £700m Pf2 programme are expected to be brought to market in the New Year, with the Education Funding Agency this week saying it expected to issue a contract notice for the Yorkshire batch (£97m, seven schools) in February and the Midlands batch (£122m, eight schools) in April.
The EFA also said firms on the agency’s new Contractors Framework had been invited to bid for a fourth batch of capital-funded schools in North-west this week, with further batches in the East Midlands and Nottinghamshire to come to market in January 2014, followed by a batch of schools in Derby that will come to market in February or March.
The EFA said a further 10 batches of capital-funded schools would come to market in 2014, followed by the remaining 7 batches in 2015.
