Developer Chelsfield has chosen the Office for Metropolitan Architecture as masterplanner for a major regeneration project in White City, west London.
The practice, led by Dutch star architect Rem Koolhaas, beat Terry Farrell & Partners and US-based Kohn Pedersen Fox to the deal, which will bring affordable housing and leisure facilities to the site.
OMA’s ideas complement the existing BBC and White City shopping centre developments. London mayor Ken Livingstone said: “We have worked closely with the landowners and Hammersmith & Fulham council to select OMA, and view their involvement as instrumental in making this major regeneration project a success.”
Councillor Sally Powell said that OMA was chosen for its innovative approach.
