Contractor completes space-saving scheme for SOAS University of London
Graham Construction has completed work on a £17.3m job for SOAS University of London, including converting a courtyard into new student space.
The courtyard - now converted into a 1,000m² student hub featuring student services, social space and a cafe - links the university’s Grade II-listed North Block with the iconic Senate House.
It is crowned by an expansive freestanding glass roof, which was lifted into place using a 10-tonne telescopic crane.
In addition, Graham refurbished 7,000m² of teaching and office space in the North Block building.
Mace provided project management on site and the scheme was designed by Rock Townsend Architects.
