Bam Construct has beaten off competition from Kier to win the second batch of schools in the Midlands to come to market through the directly-funded element of the Priority School Building Programme (PSBP).

As exclusively revealed by Building, Bam and Kier were shortlisted for the batch in February.

The Midlands 2 batch comprises four schools:

  • Lees Brook Community School (Secondary)
  • Heathlands Primary School
  • Hallmoor School (Special)
  • Fountaindale School (Special)

Work will now progress to the planning application stage.

Keith Rayner, Bam’s education director said: “This is excellent news for the creative and hard-working team that put together our successful proposals for these schools.

“So far, Bam has a 100% track record of making the shortlist on all of the priority schools for which we have tendered, but the real test of value is in being selected and we are delighted that our designs have been chosen.”

Bam’s win follows that of Sir Robert McAlpine, which won a £64m batch in the North-east and Wates, which won the first batch of Midlands schools, worth £36m.
