English Partnerships has appointed Zog Brownfield Ventures (ZBV) to redevelop its Atomic Energy Technology Centre.
The project includes an expansion of the site in Winfrith, Dorset, by 37,200 sq m, creating 1700 new jobs. ZBV will also be responsible for the estate management by providing site security and tenancy management
Zog Brownfield Ventures is a joint venture between the Zog Group and HBOS specialising in the acquisition and regeneration of brownfield sites.
English Partnerships bought the site from the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) in 2004.
The Technology Centre currently functions as a regional science and technology centre employing over 1,000 people in 40 companies.
English Partnerships’ area director for south west England, David Warburton, said: “We have been careful in selecting a partner after the site went to competitive tender. I’m delighted with the result and I’m sure ZBV will help us deliver a scheme that will benefit the whole area.”
